María José Martínez

María José Martínez began studying a degree in chemistry, to go on to study a degree in pastry and bakery and a higher degree in catering. In 2014, together with her partner Juan José Soria, they opened the restaurant Lienzo. In 2016 in Madrid Fusion she is a candidate for Revelation Chef, being selected among the first candidates. They get their first Sol Repsol and are recognized as Bib Gourmand by the Michelin Guide. In 2016 she is Businesswoman of the Year by the Federation of Hotel and Catering Businessmen of Valencia. In 2021 her restaurant was awarded its first Michelin star. María José is recognized for her support for sustainability by working on bee conservation projects, giving importance to pollination for the continuation of life on the planet.

Winner of the Aquanaria Madrid Fusión 2024 Sustainability Award, which recognizes the most sustainable chef in Spain. María José's work is a constant commitment to sustainability, in 2023 she was already awarded in the Amics de la Gastronomía Mediterrànea 2023 Awards where she was considered “for her tireless work in promoting the countryside and beekeeping, her culinary approach that highlights local ingredients and her commitment to the use of products from beehives, being her commitment an example to follow in the promotion of sustainability and the connection with the earth through food”.
